Every floor in a Ran-geon contains two or more gates, usually clustered together in a single "block" of the map. Walking on, running on, or sliding through a gate will exit the current floor. Most gates can be jumped over. Depending on the type of gate, different random effects will be applied to the Ran-geon, such as increasing the monster level. The amount of each effect is applied randomly, with the player pressing a button to stop a rapidly changing number. Some gates will only appear in Neo-geons or Tri-geons.

Gate Type Effect Neo/Tri

Exit

Return to Arcanus Cella with all items, EXP and G collected. Unlike the other gates, attempting to jump over an Exit gate will trigger it, however the player will be given the choice of whether they wish to return or not. If they do not wish to return, they will remain in the current floor of the Ran-geon.

Note that the game is not paused while the player chooses to stay or return. The default option is to stay, but if the player is pushing up and walks onto the Exit from below, they may end up choosing to return.

Both

Angel

Tiny increase in monster level, double-digit increase (never decrease) in drop rates and rarity. Levels after an Angel gate tend to have Hiyos. Passing through an Angel gate at low levels will either refill HP or SP. At higher levels, the Angel gate can refill both HP and SP, as well as cure any negative status effects. When HP is recovered, any falled Sub Chars will be revived with full HP. Also, HP recovery will work even for Sub Chars with a Won't Heal space activated.

When in a Transition floor, use an Angel gate to exit to the Heaven branch of a Tri-geon.

Both

Devil

Medium increase in monster level, small decrease (never increase) in drop rates and rarity. Tends to transform into an Angel gate when the monster level increase is stopped on +0 or +1.

When in a Transition or Heaven floor, using a Devil gate will exit to the Chaos branch of a Tri-geon.

Both

Hell

Large increase in monster level, large decrease in drop rates and rarity. Tends to transform into an Angel gate when the monster level increase is stopped at +0.

When in a Transition or Heaven floor, using a Hell gate will exit to the Chaos branch of a Tri-geon.

Both

Gambler

Small-to-medium increase in monster level. Depending on the monster level selected, different increases and decreases will appear for the item drop rates, including the possibility of doubling the drop rates. Both

Warp

Small increase in monster level, drop rates, and rarity. When exiting a floor through this gate, there is a chance to warp ahead one or more floors, letting the player skip ahead. For instance, exiting the 11th floor through a Warp gate and stopping the spinner at +2 will lead to the 13th floor. Neo

Transition

Small increase in monster level, small increase or decrease in drop rates and rarity.

Transition gates appear in Normal, Chaos and Heaven floors and are used to change between branches. When a Transition gate is used, the next floor will be a Transition floor.

Tri

Normal

Small increase in monster level, small decrease in item drop rates. Normal gates only appear in Transition and Doom floors.

Using a Normal gate exits to the Normal branch of the Tri-geon

Tri

Judgement

Judgement gates have a very small (+0/+1) increase in monster level, and once the monster level is selected, the gate will transform into an Angel, Devil, Hell, Transition, or Abysmal gate.

Judgement gates only appear in Heaven and Chaos branches of the Tri-geon, or on Doom floors.

Tri

Abysmal

Abysmal gates never appear on their own. Unlike the other gates, Abysmal gates do not change item drop rates. Instead, after the monster level increase is selected, the Exit and Transition gate appearance rates can be increased or decreased, making those gate types more likely to appear, even in Heaven.

On occasion, the Abysmal gate may also restore HP like the Angel gate.

Tri

Doom

Also known as the "trap" gate due to the fact that the gate is invisible until player is within a square of it. The Doom gate has a very small (+0/+1) increase in level and drop rates, but the player is sent to the Doom floor with the same floor number as the current floor. Unlike the other gates, attempting to jump over a Doom gate will exit the floor.
